Privacy, data protection and GDPR

Our commitments on how member and visitor data is collected, stored and used.

Data we collect

Membership applications, event registrations, investment interest submissions, newsletter subscriptions and forum contributions. We collect only what is needed to administer membership, run events and connect members with opportunities.

Legal basis

We process personal data on the basis of your explicit consent, our legitimate interest in administering the Forum, and where required to comply with Tanzanian statutory obligations. Consent is captured at the point of collection and can be withdrawn at any time.

Tanzanian data protection

NTBF operates in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act of Tanzania and its regulations, including principles of lawfulness, purpose limitation, data minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation and accountability.

GDPR rights

Where the GDPR applies, members and contacts have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Requests are actioned within 30 days.

Sharing and transfers

We do not sell personal data. Data may be shared with the NTBF secretariat, sub-committees and service providers under contract (email delivery, hosting, payments). Cross-border transfers use appropriate safeguards.

Security and retention

Access is role-restricted, records are protected by row-level security in our systems, and data is retained only while a membership, event or enquiry relationship is active, or as required by law.
